Thank you!  Mary Lou Erwin for conducting our last Mini Workshop.  The workshop focused on Agenda Preparation and Meeting Minutes.  The workshop was held on Friday, June 27^th and was well attended.  Mary Lou hit all the high points on “Why Do We Have Committee Meetings?”  

The next workshop is as follows:

September 19^{th  -} CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS

This is an excellent opportunity to develop those skills which are necessary in our everyday job duties.

December 5th - AZ MEDICAL BOARD & AZ BOARD OF NURSING

This workshop will focus on the new policy statement regarding Board reporting that was recently issued by the Arizona Medical Board.  The Nursing Board discussion will focus on issues related to Nurse Practitioner Credentialing and Licensure.

We recently held a networking social on June 12th.  Attendance was wonderful and the event was a great success.  Thank you Lisa Rojo for putting this together for us.  The next social will be held in October – date and location to be determined.

We have several new members to the newsletter committee.  Thank you for volunteering.  If you are interested in submitting an article or a topic of interest please contact Mary Heller – Chief Editor.

A new membership application form is posted on the website.  If you have a new member that is interested in joining mid year – the dues for the remainder of calendar year 2008 are $25.  Going forward membership renewal will be streamlined and you will electronically update your information on the website at the time you submit your dues payment. 

Please watch for additional information on applying for two AAMSS scholarships to obtain certification.  The information will be rolled out in September, 2008. 

Congratulations!  Rosalie Drott, CPCS, Medical Staff Assistant, Yavapai Regional Medical Center is the winner of the Carol Scott Memorial Scholarship. This is her first NAMSS conference!!!

AAMSS will once again be a bronze level sponsor for the upcoming NAMSS conference.  If you are attending this conference in the fall I encourage you to register now - they have recently extended the deadline and you can still get in for early bird membership.
