Letter From The President:
MESSAGE FROM AAMSS PAST-PRESIDENT – Leilani Wilson

Dear AAMSS Colleagues:

I want to thank all of you for your support and contributions during my term as AAMSS President.  I am so grateful for the opportunity and privilege I have had to serve you in this capacity.  This year the AAMSS Board focused on several goals, but most importantly we wanted to provide members with a voice!  On behalf of the Board, we hope we met your expectations and fulfilled your educational needs.   During calendar year 2009, many goals were accomplished including: ·          AAMSS became fiscally structured – we are now filed as a non-profit organization with the State!·          Developed and offered two new CEU venues by newsletter and website enhancing our electronic capabilities and meeting the educational needs of our members, particularly those located in far regions of the State.·          Established a government liaison on the Board to address issues at a State and National level, focusing on State standardized applications.·          Broadened and restructured the AAMSS Board responsibilities including development of Board job descriptions.·          Offered Network Socials in the East and West Valleys providing networking opportunities to various member locations.·          Provided conference and workshops including the Spring Conference held at The Hilton Pointe Tapatio Cliffs Resort, Minute Taking/Medical Terminology Workshop and the annual Basic Credentialing Workshop.  All were well attended and a huge success!·          Offered the Carol Scott Scholarship – awarded to Jocelyn Adrianson for 2009!  Congratulations!  ·          Awarded two certification scholarships – Congratulations to the recipients and good luck on your exam!·          Restoration of the Southern AZ Chapter providing the Southern portion of the State additional CEU workshops, as well as networking opportunities amongst peers. None of these goals could have been met without the volunteer hours, dedication and commitment to the AAMSS organization provided by the Board, committee members, volunteers and you! As the new year begins, it is time to say farewell to several of our Board members who have served their terms and will be leaving us.  First, I would like to thank Carol Garrison who has been our AAMSS Treasurer for three years.  She has been an incredible asset to AAMSS and a great support to the Board.  Carol has been instrumental in assisting AAMSS in obtaining our non-profit filing status, as well as keeping our organization on track financially.  Carol has performed a difficult job exceptionally well and will be greatly missed.  I also want to thank Mary Lou Erwin and Sharon Giles for serving terms as Member-at-Large during the past two-years.  Mary Lou provided a mini workshop presentation on Minute Taking, as well as offering her facility for workshop locations.  Her presentation received great reviews and requests for more! Sharon has been our Certification Chair assisting those wishing to take the certification exams, connecting those who wish to participate in study groups and has been the key contact for AAMSS scholarships.  Both have done awesome jobs!  Lastly, I want to thank Karen Salas for her work and contributions to AAMSS.  Karen leaves us as our Past-President and Sponsorship Chairman in 2009, serving as President-Elect and President 2007-2008.  Karen has brought a great deal of experience, leadership and knowledge to the organization. Her time donated to AAMSS is greatly appreciated!   I would like to thank all of you who voted in the 2010 Board elections.  Candidates elected are Kelly Brillhart as Treasurer and Sharon Giles, Deborah Blacklock and Jan McIntyre as Members-at-Large!  Additionally, Ashley Anderson has been appointed as the new Website Chairman.    Congratulations to all!   I am pleased to announce your 2010 AAMSS Board Members Mary Heller, BS, MBA/HCM, CPMSM – PresidentChristi Irwin, BA, CPMSM, CPCS – President ElectLeilani Wilson, CPCS – Immediate Past-PresidentKelly Brillhart, CPCS  – TreasurerMargie Arend, CPCS – SecretaryLisa Rojo, CPCS, CPMSM – Education Committee ChairmanSharon Giles, CPMSM, CPCS, CPHQ – Member-at-Large Sandra Cady, MS, CPMSM – Member-at-LargeDeborah Blacklock, CPCS – Member-at-LargeJan McIntyre, CPMSM, CPCS – Member-at-LargeAmanda Busby – Membership ChairmanAshley Anderson - Website Chairman It has been an honor to work alongside such an extraordinary group of individuals.  AAMSS has a great leadership team for next year and I am sure this organization will continue to grow and move forward in leaps and bounds.  Congratulations to Mary Heller and the entire 2010 AAMSS Board!!   Leilani Wilson, CPCS AAMSS Past President This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
