2008 - A NEW YEAR WITH TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITIES BEFORE US!
Welcome AAMSS members and thank you for electing me as president for calendar year 2008. I am excited about the many things the Board can undertake to serve the needs of the membership. Listed below are the 2008 Board Members:

A tremendous thank you to Patti Hull and Stephanie Davee for their work during calendar year 2007! They have played a tremendous role in the success of AAMSS over the last several years. The Board will be meeting at the end of the month to develop a plan of action for 2008, however I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know of our current structure and oversight. This team is preparing some exciting educational opportunities for 2008. March 28th – Basic Credentialing Workshop – St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical CenterApril 25th – AAMSS Spring Conference – Pointe Hilton Resort
Membership – Christi Irwin

AAMSS currently has over 200 members! Christy will be focused on revamping our membership roster as well as looking at ways to maintain our strong membership hold.
Certification – Sharon Giles

Sharon’s focus will be providing necessary assistance to our membership with regard to NAMSS certification.
Website Development – Leilani Wilson

Leilani has done a tremendous job in keeping up with the website. The 2007 Board dedicated significant support to revamp the site. Leilani is working on this redevelopment and you should see the new product rolled out within the first quarter of 2008.
Newsletter Committee & Editor – Mary Heller

I am very excited about the work Mary will be doing for AAMSS. She has graciously taken on the job of revamping and redesigning a newsletter for the association. Mary brings to the table significant software expertise and will be developing a committee to assist her in this process. Mary will participate on the Board as the Newsletter Editor.
Networking – Social Activities – Lisa Rojo

Lisa and other members of the board will be looking at different networking and social activities to develop in 2008. Your ideas and comments are welcome.
My focus this year will be to convene a group to look at Staff Affiliation Letters. The Healthcare Attorney group has indicated interest in helping us look at our current process based on concerns from all of us that we have a broken process and we would like to see additional information on the affiliation letters… possibly even some baseline data to help with low volume utilizers. This is a big project that I am not sure we can reach consensus on however I feel it is worth exploring.
